During this week of Biomed, we started figuring out our foundations of what we are trying to achieve this year of Interventions. We started off the week by learning how to play this bellringer game that we use to learn medical terminology. The game is called Balderdash were we try to trick our classmates on the real meaning of the medical word. Generally these words are not common for our tongue and ones we usually have no clue what they mean (like ecchymosis). After playing that fun and intense game, we get serious and focus on what our field of interest will be for our Capstone project. We have filled out surveys and question to figure out what would be a great fit for us. We had to create discussion posts on why and what we decided (mine being general surgery). Something interesting that we did was learn how to create surgical notes on our shoelaces (a technic they actually use in medical school!-see photo below). We wrapped up the week by formatting a sample of our formal proposal for the committee over our Biomed project so we can begin in the near future!
