Dr. Peyton McElroy came to our class last week to talk about the basics and familiar principles of BioEthics. She presented our class with the OCTOMOM case, Nadya Suleman, to figure out our ethical views of the situation. We quickly were briefed on the topic as Ms. Suleman, with the help of her doctor and IVF, had eight babies. We had to decide whether we thought if the doctor made an ethical and safe choice in allowing her to have that may babies at one. I believe that the doctor put the patient in an unsafe and risky position with very little knowledge on what could happen to her. After, we spoke on the four principles of Biomedical Ethics:
1. Autonomy
2. non-maleficence
3. beneficence
4. justices
As well as Paternalistic, deliverative, interpretative, and informative models from the doctor.
