Blood Drive 2021

Updated: Mar 4, 2021

As a biomed program, each student had the opportunity to invite people from our community, family, friends, and more to participate in our annual blood drive partnered with Life South. After speaking with LifeSouth earlier in the year, we learned the importance of donating blood and becoming a lifesaver. As long as the student is 16 years old and in the weight minimum, they were able to donate blood. My class spent a few days designing blood-drive posters, delivering them around campus, and marketing the event. It was incredible how many students showed up to serve their community and help people in need. If you were not donating blood, then you cleaned seats to keep the waiting area covid safe, checked on the donors (whether that ask them if they need drinks or snacks), working the snack room and making sure things were stocked, taking pictures, and more. We were expecting to have around 40 pints of blood due to the circumstances of the past year, but we came out with 105 pints of blood. 315 lives could be saved with is more than the biomed program has ever even come close to reaching.
