Building Assistive Technology for a Crippled Dog (Innovations)

As our first project in the Innovation Biomed course, we get to construct a device to help Squirrel, a dachshund with birth defects, walk. Squirrel was born without front legs (one being slightly more developed) and no front teeth. We got to meet him and play with him. He was very calm and loved attention around the class. We measured him to be able to design the device in the future. The class watched Squirrel hobble around the rug and hop to his bed. Here are the measurements we collected:

- Weight 12lb

- Right front leg length- 8in

- Chest size - 16in

- Med Stomach - 15in

- Back legs- 9.5 in

- Distance from back legs to front legs - 7in
