Feb. 7-11 Weekly Blog

This week in biomed, Mohammed and I have been working to design and 3d print a patella for a knee replacement for a real-life Operation Game. Each group was given a certain surgery and has to come up with a way of make it lifesize for the game. We first went to Mr. Bentley to retrieve an actual patella bone from his bone box. We did this to see the actual size and proportions to prepare. After, we calibrate the Einstein-Pro scanner to scan the patella in three dimensions on a computer. This took a while of playing around with the tech and getting comfortable using it (we scanned Mohammed's face and hands quite a bit). We created sketches (as seen in the picture), but the scan is much more clear and accurate to size. We never got the chance to actually 3d print the Patella, but we are finishing up next week!
