Interventions: Mentor Interview

I had the opportunity to interview Dr. Charles Caleb Butts for my mentor interview. Dr. Butts is a Trauma/Burn/Emergency General Surgeon. Caleb Butts is an assistant professor within the Department of Surgery and serves as a trauma and burn surgeon within the Division of Trauma & Acute Care Surgery at USA Health University Hospital. He fostered his specialty training in caring for trauma, burn, surgical critical care, and emergency general surgical patients. He attended Mississippi State for undergrad, University of South Alabama for Medical School, USA for residency, and Wake Forest University for his fellowship. He majored in political science in his undergrad, as he didn't really know were life would take him. He knew he wanted to do a more prestigious and academically rigorous job after he had a bad encounter with a lawn care job. His days in the OR are always different as he focuses on burns on day, trauma the next, etc. He lives a very busy life balancing his intense job. He signed my mentor agreement and is allowing me to come watch him perform surgeries.
