Rock Steady Boxing Class

My biomed class attended a Rock Steady Boxing Class by Saads. The boxing class is targeted to people diagnosed specifically with Parkinsons. Parkinsons is defined as a disease of the central nervous system caused by slow brain decay that results in muscle decay. It can vary from each patient with symptoms like tremors, loss of balance, slowed speech, and trouble walking. Boxing can be prescribed by the doctor for parkinson patients because boxing slows the progression of the decay. It does not stop the disease but can help the quality of life. We had the chance of watching the afternoon class where they worked on balance while walking a plank and various forms of boxing movements. After the class was over, our class had the chance to use the equipment in the room and learn some new techniques.
