Even with the short 4-day week because of labor day, our Biomed class still worked hard on accomplishing multiple things this week. We started each day with our fun and competitive game of balderdash, which is always the best way on getting our brains moving. We started on re-working and assessing the virtual HEENT evaluation that we started last week. We also had to create 5 physical flashcards on the history of our field of interest to start the early stages of our paper. We included links and the history on the cards. Discussion post #4 was due this week on Digital Object Identifiers. The goal was to have a basic understanding of what DOIs are and how they affect writing.
The best part of the week was our skills lab on Thursday. Our class got to mess around and learn about how to work Z-Space. Z-Space looks like a laptop with the ability to create a virtual/augmented reality for the human anatomy and more. Once we started the computer, we put on our 3d glasses and plugged in our pens to move around the objects. We got to select our visible body section, and choose which body systems we wanted to view. Whether that be the endocrine system, lymphatic system, reproductive system, or musculatory system, we could all click on certain pieces of the 3d body to define and identify. It was a great way to separate the systems and look at them in such great 3d quality! We all had such a fun time getting to explore Z-Space.
