Wigs for local hospital's pediatric oncology patients

Updated: Mar 4, 2021

My biomed class had the chance to create and build wigs for pediatric oncology patients from our local hospital. These Wigs consisted of choices between Ariel, Jack Sparrow, Jasmine, Rapunzel, Elsa, Cinderella, Belle, and more. These designs are common characters children love to dress up as. The yarn we used was a unique fabric that is very gentle and soft on their heads. My group, consisting of Mohammed, Charlie Anne, and myself, worked on constructing the Jack Sparrow Wig. We unravelled long strands of brown, black, and gray yarn to stitch on a dark read beanie (which looks like Sparrow's head band). This process took a week and we finished with adding fun deads in the hair. My class was so thankful and eager to make these wigs and hope to watch the patient's reactions on zoom!
